How To...

In House/On Site Bidding

Bidding at a public auction is surprisingly easy.

1. Auction Preview - Previews are ready a week before the auction (check auction calendar) or click on icollector.com image located on the top right corner of every tab. This is a great opportunity to find what you are looking for and see what is being sold at the upcoming auction.  The auction preview allows the bidder to take their time and really examine any item they please; there is no pressure. We have descriptions & images available for the buyer to use.The auctions follow the catalog, and if the auctioneer announces that certain “lot numbers” will be sold next, you will be ready.  The buyer can use it to take notes for future reference. The preview is essential to the bidding process. Bidders can also pre-register for a bidder number during the preview to avoid delays on the day of the auction. Bidders may also leave pre-bids anytime before the auction day. Please be Advised we describe items from what consignors say it is and from the best of our knowledge of the item.

2.  On the day of the auction - Make sure you've registered for a bidder number before attempting to bid.  The bid number will have a unique number/screen name, and this is how we identify bidders and the items they purchase. You MUST have a bidder number before you can make an offer. There is no deposit needed. Bidder must registering using (Mastercard, Visa or Discover) each time to be added to an auction. There will be no charge to the card unless you're a successful winning bidder of an item. You will be emailed an invoice with your final total with (Taxes Nevada Residents Only) 12.5% Buyer Premium & Shipping.

3.  To make a bid - Click on the Green Button displaying dollar amount for the item,The ring-man monitors for the highest bid. Ring-men are an essential part of the auction, so do not try and talk to a ring-man during an auction other than to bid. The auctioneer will determine the winner of the bid, and can reopen bidding if he so chooses.

4.  After bidding is finished - At the close of the auction or after you are finished bidding on the items you want, Invoice will be sent to you by email prior to your card being charged. Once again, the catalog is useful in this scenario. Using the information you have written in your catalog, you can double check your invoice to make sure that it is correct.

5.  Receiving purchased items – After a buyer has made their payment (there is a 12.5% buyer’s premium buyers are also responsible for state sales tax and shipping), Please make sure that you have everything on your invoice.  It is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure they received all the items they are entitled to.
